Commentary on our 2025 Term 2 Snap Shot
Attendance
The 6% increase is positive. This is down on the Term 1 figure of 67% which is mainly due to an 8% increase in students away for illness/medical.
Pastoral Incidents
Another positive trend with both types of incidents decreasing – a 30% decrease in classroom incidents and 22% reduction in discipline incidents.
Referrals from class
These increased by about 1 student per day being referred. Most referrals were in Year 9. To ensure a focus on settled productive classrooms teachers developed a list of behaviour ‘non negotiables’ for Year 9. This was effective with overall referrals dropping to 7 students for the last week of Term 2 from a peak of 26 students in Week 5.
Stand downs and suspensions
Both are trending strongly downwards. There was a 41% decrease in stand downs and an 83% decrease in suspensions. This is reflected in the “I feel safe at school” result.
I feel I belong at school
A positive result and similar to Term 2 last year. This is an area we are working further to improve through Whānau Time and student led activities.
I feel safe
Up on last year. References to bullying in this survey have also decreased. We strongly encourage students and parents to contact staff at school if there are concerns with suspected bullying or make use of the bullying reporting site on our school website.
Our values are important
Our Kawa of respect (manaaki), courage, (māia) and personal excellence (rawe) is promoted and modeled throughout our kura. This is a pleasing result.
