Junior Curriculum

Our Year 7 and 8 department offers a dynamic and inclusive learning environment where homeroom teachers guide students through core subjects like English, Social Studies, Mathematics, and Inquiry. We attempt to deliver an innovative curriculum tailored to the needs of our learners, whānau and community that reflects our commitment to fostering a deep connection with our local heritage and strategic goals.

At Cromwell College, we pride ourselves on delivering a curriculum that is both engaging and relevant to our community. We actively draw on the vast strengths and expertise within our community to enrich our students’ learning experiences. Whether it’s through guest speakers, local projects, or partnerships, our community plays a vital role in supporting and enhancing education.

We also warmly invite our community to join us in celebrating their child’s learning. Events like walk-throughs and Matariki evenings offer opportunities for families to engage with the school, witness their children’s progress firsthand, and celebrate the rich cultural heritage that is woven into our curriculum. This collaboration between school and community ensures a supportive and connected environment where students thrive.

Being part of a college environment in Year 7 and 8 offers unique advantages. Students benefit from access to specialist teachers who bring expertise and passion to subjects like the Arts, Languages, and Technology. The college setting also provides access to exceptional resources, and practical learning spaces.

Moreover, our Year 7 and 8 students have the opportunity to collaborate with and learn from senior students, who serve as role models and mentors. This interaction fosters a sense of belonging and encourages our younger students to strive for excellence, both academically and personally. The college environment nurtures growth, inspires leadership, and prepares students for the challenges and opportunities ahead.
